Rondal bags 2 super-yacht rig orders
VOLLENHOVE, Netherlands _ Rondal BV began 2014 with “a flying start.” The Dutch maker of super yacht rigging and gear, booked 2 orders for rig packages. One is for a “complete rig package for a 43,5m Frers-designed performance sloop,” now being built by Royal Huisman. It features a 58m, four-spreader carbon fiber mast and furling boom.
The second, this one from Holland Jachtbouw, is for a rig package for a 46m Tripp Design world cruising sloop. It includes a four-spreader 62m carbon fiber mast _ that “just clears the Panama Canal’s Bridge of the Americas,” says Rondal spokeswoman Els Brandt _ and a custom-built carbon fiber furling boom. Both projects are due to be stepped in 2015.
Last year, Rondal extended its composite workshop enabling the Dutch maritime engineering company to produce outsized gear stretching up to 78 meters. Rondal is a supplier of materials used on custom-made super-yachts, a demanding sector that expects components and fittings to be built to the highest quality. Rondal uses the extended work space to craft the 73m mast for a 70m ketch now being built in La Spezia, Italy.
