METS goes from strength to strength
AMSTERDAM _ After 27 years, the Marine Equipment Trade Show keeps going from strength to strength. In 2014, the show attracted 21,086 visitors and 1,358 exhibitors which set two records. For 2015 edition (Nov. 17-19), organizers have tapped Raymarine as the headline sponsor for the inaugural IBI-METS Boat Builder Business Achievement Awards.
The new prize will be presented at a gala dinner at the National Maritime Museum here midway the 2015 METS show. Organized by IBI magazine and METSTRADE, the award focuses not on marine equipment making _ for which the annual METS show issues DAME awards _ but on innovative thinking in 6 categories of boat building. These are: retail marketing, distributor/dealer development; boat builder-equipment maker collaboration, innovative on-board design solutions, advancement in a production process and individual lifetime achievement award.
Raymarine joins a list of major award category sponsors including Fusion, Whale, Lumishore, Saltwater Communications and Sleipner. IBI Publishing Director Nick Hopkinson calls it “highly significant that Raymarine … has taken the step of backing what is likely to become a major event in the global boat building industry`s calendar.”
