NEWPORT, Rhode Island _ The Eagle-44, a classic day sailer made by Leonardo Yachts of the Netherlands, was named ‘best new sailboat over 30’ at the 43rd annual Newport International Boat Show (Sept. 12-15, 2013).

The Eagle-44 is a fast, 13.30m day sailer with classic lines. The yacht is designed by Dykstra Naval Architects of Amsterdam. Leonardo Yachts also makes an Eagle-36. In both sizes, the yacht sports long overhangs that give it a very sleek and elegant look.

The interior of the Eagle-44 features a double bed and electric toilet. A shower can be used in the cockpit or on the aft deck. Then yacht boasts a large, open cockpit framed by a teak deck. The jib winches are placed within easy reach of the helmsman making single-handed sailing possible. Leonardo Yachts was founded in 2011 by brothers Steven and Melle Boersma and is located in Sneek, the Netherlands.
