A comfy weekender for a changing market

HEEG ~ Geert Wijma caters to boaters’ changing tastes. These days many daysailing enthusiasts want more comfort without migrating to a full-fledged cabin cruiser of 30ft and up. To serve them, his Jachtwerf Heeg came up with the Pointer-25, an eye-catching, 7.70m weekender from the boards of the renowned Van de Stadt Design studio. Citing a hard-to-beat price and ample comforts, Wijma sees a market for his new boat in the Netherlans and abroad. You can confugure your own Pointer-25 on the Shipyard Heeg website.

“What I hear from customers is that they want a comfortable boat, for touring inland waterways and lakes. They want to make miles so it has to be a bit more than a traditional daysailer. It must also be suited for overnighting,” says Wijma.

His yard made its name with 2 Van de Stadt-design daysailers: the ‘Randmeer’ (of which it has made over 2,000 to date) and the more upmarket ‘G2’ of which it has made 50 so far. Wijma calls the Pointer-25 “a starter cabin cruiser.”

The Pointer-25 boasts excellent sailing qualities, an inboard engine with a saildrive, a toilet, a bulb keel, a furling jib on a below-deck drum, inboard lights, a roomy cockpit that seats 6 and 4 spacious berths of 2.10m. It is designed to serve both racers and recreational boaters. Candidate buyers can acquire a Pointer-25 through the Shipyard Heeg website. A configurator lets you choose the interior, the sailing gear and the styling.

The Pointer-25 is part of a trend that in recent years has led to the emergency of richly appointed, comfy sailboats that combine the luxury of a cabin yacht with the thrill of a daysailer. What truly sets the Pointer-25 apart in that group is a low sail-away price of €59,500, incl. VAT. The yacht will be available as of September, 2014.
