U-Boat Worx launches superyacht sub

BREDA ~ U-Boat Worx, the Dutch maker of commercial, tourist and research submersibles, debuted its first superyacht sub at the Monaco Yacht Show last month. Next stop: the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show to be held Nov. 5 to 9.

U-Boat Worx makes advanced private subs in small series. At Monaco, it debuted the 3-person a superyacht submersible and the C-Explorer 3 “Legend Explorer.”

U-Boat Worx chairman Bert Houtman says the “Super Yacht Sub 3 sets “a new standard in the super yacht industry. Its compact size and relatively low weight redefine the way shipyards, naval architects and owners have looked upon submersibles.” U-Boat Worx’ first superyacht series is now in production. The sub can be delivered with a 100, 200 or 300 meter depth-rating. Its lithium-ion battery system allows for an endurance of up to 8 hours on a single charge. The sub has AC, Bluetooth stereo and luxury leather seating. Separately, U-Boat Worx recently launched the C-Researcher 3, a research and leisure sub that can go down to a staggering 1700m to explore the ocean floor for up to 12 hours.
