Seahunter: a speedy, maneuverable RIB

URK _ K.D. Workboats, an alliance of KD Workboats and Post Workboats, has launched a new aluminum project called Seahunter. Its makers speak of “the ultimate vessel” for a wide range of activities: offshore, the seismic sector, rescue and salvaging and nautical industries. Says Klaas Post, owner of Post Workboats: “This is a highly maneuverable RIB with excellent sailing qualities and extremely fast.”

The 8m Seahunter’s 5mm hull is made of seaworthy, extra-strength aluminum. Unlike a RIB, it does not have an air-filled tube but a special D-fender. “While an air-filled tube can spring a leak our fender will under no circumstances lose its buoyancy,” says Post. “Right now, this is the best fencer available on the market anywhere in the world.”

The Seahunter comes in a fully-equipped, standard version but can also be customized. The fender has a foam core, enclosed in a technical fiber that, in turn, is wrapped in a layer of plastic. The fender can be a NIJ4-class ballistic fender which stops a bullet. Or one that can take heat of up to 200°C. The Seahunter can be carried in a container. It can also be trailered. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TfYCMCj9vs&feature=youtu.be
