Feadship’s latest in a tight squeeze

HAARLEM _ At 101.5m., it is the largest superyacht ever built in the Netherlands. And few commuters who rushed beneath the Symphony as the Feadship-built yacht was moved for final outfitting and delivery would disagree. The craft dwarfed 9 lanes of road traffic as it crossed a narrow aquaduct. Symphony has a relatively narrow beam (14.1 m or 46 ft.) for her length.

Feadship is a collaboration of the Royal Van Lent and Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw yards and De Voogt Naval Architects. The name stands for First Export Association of Dutch Shipbuilders. Based in Haarlem, the company has to date built more than 420 yachts. More than half of Feadship’s clients are based in the United States. The photo appeared on the Feadship Fan Club’s Facebook page.
