From Xtenders, Vripack: with TLC
SNEEK _ The Xtenders yard says it is committed to building “the ultimate superyacht tender.” With the input from the venerable Vripack studio, it just may have done that. Its latest project _ the lightweight carbon LimoTender 8.0 (left) _ is the world’s first autoclave pre-preg carbon Limousine Tender.
As an ex-Olympic sailor Xtenders’ founder, Herbert Dercksen, saw to it that the tender was built to the highest level of a carbon fiber, pre-impregnated construction. Uni-direction carbon is very strong, able to withstand the most challenging conditions while keeping weight to a minimum.
The outcome: a light-weight, fast 8m limo tend that oozes comfort. Light weight means a smaller engine, less fuel use and noise. The LimoTender 8.0 reaches a speed of 40 knots with 10 guests and a 2-strong crew. The craft is powered by a Volvo Penta D4 300HP.
The Vripack design is a hull with a sailboat-like entry angle, a flared bow and a deep-V aft ship. The hull lines cut slamming and redirect the spray. For the exterior design Vripack drew inspiration from the ‘mothership’ in whose tender garage the limo-tender fits just nicely.
The Limo Tender’s interior includes a refrigerated-champagne cabinet, mood lighting, air conditioning and various multimedia appliances. To connect its passengers closer to the water, Vripack inserted a window along the waterline that gives those inside the tender the feeling of flying low over the water.
Established in 2008, Xtenders manufactures high-quality carbon fiber tenders. The company currently has 13 tenders under construction. Established in 1961, Vripack is a full-service yacht design, naval architecture and engineering studio with over 7000 projects under its belt.
