Dutch trawlers rule supreme in 2015
DÜSSELDORF _ In picking 2015 European Powerboats of the Year, the Boot Düsseldorf jury faced 25 nominations stretching past 45ft. (13.7m), including the Trawler class where length is of no importance. And it is in the latter class that Dutch yachtbuilders excelled at Düsseldorf.
Of the 5 nominated trawlers, 4 were Dutch-made craft, including the winner _ Steeler Yachts’ Panorama 46FF. The 5th nominee was the US-built Fleming 58. That sort of performance attests to the strength and craftsmanship of Dutch yachtbuilding.
The jury _ editors of Europe’s top 7 motorboat magazines _ noted that being nominated alone points to entries boasting “the most promising new innovations.” The jury scores nominated craft on such issues as design, handling, on-board safety and value for money.
In addition to Steeler Yachts winning Panorama 46FF, the other Dutch nominations were:
- Aquanaut Yachts’ Andante 438 AC
Measuring 13.15×4.20m (43x14ft), the Andante 438 AC has a flat-bottomed stern and a knife-sharp bow. Extra chine ridges in the hull give more stability and less wave formation. The Andante is a leading new motoryacht with a revolutionary shape and unique features such as: more speed with less fuel, a vertical, rounded front window group and a contemporary interior boasting light, space and comfort. The Andante is a cross between a trawler and a top cockpit motor yacht. www.aquanaut.nl
- Jetten Yachting
Jetten 50MPC This Jetten Yachts entry is the yard’s most revolutionary motor yacht to date. It is available as a displacement or half glider yacht and with a fuel-efficient 170HP Deutz diesel engine with 170 hp. Or with 2 engines packing 800HP and a top speed of 16 knots. It boasts spacious cabins and excellent insulation for use in all weather. The yard says it offers 56% more space than the average 50 foot cruiser. There is a separate crew cabin and a master cabin with walk-in closet.
- Linssen Classic Sturdy 36 Sedan Deckbridge
This is a motoryacht that Linssen Yachts produced in collaboration with Nasta Marine, its Swiss dealer. The Deckbridge can best be compared to a Flybridge but in addition to an extra helmsman’s position, it offers an additional 15 sq. meters (161 sq. ft) of living space. The entry to the deck bridge is via the foredeck and a short, sloping set of steps.
There is no loss of space in the cockpit or on the deck. The deck bridge has a helmsman’s position with a cockpit chair, an accompanying chair and an L-shaped sofa. Optional extras: a fridge/bar, a sink, a grill and cushions.
