Claasen yachts impress in super-yacht event
PALMA DE MALLORCA _ Two Claasen Shipyards boats _ Heartbeat and Atalante _ placed 1st and 2nd respectively in Class 2 of the non-J super-yachts at the 2013 Super-yacht Cup. Europe’s longest running super-yacht regatta was held June 19-22 in excellent weather conditions, with a sea breeze averaging 15 to 19 knots on average and a wave height of only 1.5 meters.
Manon Borrius Broek, Heartbeat’s owner, was over the moon. She bought the 23.8m Claasen yacht so she could enter the Super-yacht Cup. “It was our dream to participate in the Super-yacht regatta,” she said. “We have been fine-tuning for 3 years and are now the winners. We are very happy.”
The 27.5m Atalante placed 2ndin second in the same class to complete an impressive event for the yard.
The overall J-Class results revealed the dominance of Dutch designers and yards in that impressive category. The top 2 finishers _ Hanuman and Lionheart _ bear the stamp of designers at Dykstra Naval Architects and Hoek Yacht Design and the yards of Royal Huisman and Claasen, respectively.
