Aquanaut Yachting Holland’s Andante 438 AC

SNEEK ~ Aquanaut Yachting Holland has been making steel motor yachts for over half a century. It is keeping that up at a good clip, notably with its eye-catching Andante series whose unorthodox shape and unique features (less fuel use, panoramic windshield and contemporary interior) stand out from the more traditional yachts produced by Aquanaut Yachting Holland. The yard makes 10-to-19m cruising yachts in 6 model lines and 3 dozen versions. All are made in-house. It has half a dozen dealers and sales points across Europe.

Its Andantes range from 13.15 to 15m and are a cross between a trawler and a top cockpit yacht. The April issue of the German boating magazine Wassersport called the Dutch yard a leader in revolutionary yacht designs. “A contemporary, cutting-edge interior radiates comfort and plenty of living space in the highest quality,” said the magazine in a review of the Andante 438 OC. It spoke of “a ‘new classic’ sensation in its class.”

Recently, the yard started work on an Andante 438 AC _ an aft cabin version of the open cockpit yacht (photo right) that was a Boat-of-the-Year contender at the 2015 HISWA Boat Show in Amsterdam.
“A special craft,” said the show’s jury, nicely balanced inside and out. It praised the “panoramic windshield and mini flybridge with lifting roof.”

The aft cabin holds the owner’s quarters beneath an open cockpit. It offers 1m more interior space overall which makes up to 4 cabins possible. The 2-cabin version has a starboard galley and a big salon with a 6-seat U-shaped sofa and a dinette.
